A fundraising guide written for founders

Petr Kováčik raised money as a founder, wrote cheques at a VC fund, and now runs a studio. The book is what he tells founders in all three roles. Join Peerpit and it is yours.

How you get it

Three steps, about ten minutes.

Step 1

Join the community

Sign in with LinkedIn. It confirms you are a real person and saves you a long form, and it puts you in Peerpit: a network of founders who agreed to ask for help and to give it.

Step 2

Tell us where you are

A short chat on WhatsApp or Slack about what you are building and whether you are raising now, next year, or working out whether to raise at all. It takes a few minutes and it decides which parts of the book matter to you.

Step 3

Get the book

Someone on the Peerpit team sends the PDF over in the same chat, with a note on where to start for your stage. The chat stays open after that, so you have somewhere to bring the questions the book raises.

Questions people ask

What is actually in it?

Two halves. The ladder: pre-seed, seed, Series A, later stages, and whether to raise venture money at all. The craft: running a raise as a process, materials and meetings, terms and closing, how to build and defend a valuation, and cap-table mechanics including ESOP in Central Europe. Every figure carries its source and its date, because several of them changed twice in two years.

What is the catch?

You join Peerpit. That is it. Nobody asks you for money, a deck, or equity, and the book is not a teaser for a paid one. We would rather have a founder in the network who trusts us than a download.

I am not raising yet. Is it any use?

That is the better time to read it. Most of the expensive mistakes in a round are made before it starts: no founder vesting, a cap table that makes the next round hard, a valuation talked up beyond what the traction carries. There is also a chapter on whether to raise venture money at all, which is a real answer and not a rhetorical one.

How is this different from the guides already online?

The numbers are local. A US pre-seed at a $12M cap and a Czech pre-seed at €2.9M pre-money are the same stage priced about four times apart, and a founder who quotes the American figure in a Prague meeting loses the room. It is also written by someone who has sat on all three sides of the table: raising, investing, and now building companies from scratch.

What is Peerpit, and what happens to what I share?

BUDETO is a startup studio: we back founders, assemble founding teams, finance the launch, and stay hands-on. Peerpit is the part of it open to any founder, at any stage. What you share is stored by BUDETO STUDIO s.r.o. (Prague, Czechia), seen only by the Peerpit team, used for one thing, helping you and finding the right people for you, and deleted whenever you ask.
